Brave New World: Thoughts and Review

Hello, frens How are you?
I recently read Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, and I can’t get enough of dystopian novels.
It was an interesting read that forces you to think about certain ideas.
What kind of ideas?
For me, it was:
Art requires tragedy.
Happiness is a social construct.
Is there a God?
Do we need to be a perfect society?
Soma.
Well.
If you want to create art, you have to experience tragedy. Have you ever met an incredible artist who lived a tragedy-less life? I don’t think so.
Happiness is a social construct, maybe. Happiness for one person might be sitting alone on a park bench, watching the sunset. For someone else, it could be dancing at a club, surrounded by strangers. And for some, it might even be selling courses to gullible students and making a fortune off them by scamming the students. (I see you, Mr. Byju - you happy man.)
As for God, God exists.
Our society may be chaotic, but we need to be kinder to each other.
Now, about the idea of a government-introduced drug, hypothetically speaking, what if there were a substance that induced a temporary state of bliss, with controlled effects and ethical considerations in place? It could provide comfort to those struggling with despair. Of course, such a concept would raise significant moral, ethical, and societal questions. How do we define contribution? Who decides what qualifies as a meaningful existence? These are the dilemmas that Brave New World brings to the surface.
The book was a short read but worth it. A lot of people shy away from philosophical books because they can challenge your worldview, or even make you a little depressed. So, you do you.
