Potato Wars!

Potato Wars!

Year 2069

All the freshly harvested potatoes are found to be poisoned, causing chaos among the world's governments. Alerts and notices are sent out, warning people not to eat potatoes freshly dug from farms.

It is soon discovered that something in the soil is turning potatoes poisonous, although those stored in cold storage remain safe. Governments have initiated emergency research on how to produce potatoes without soil, but all attempts have failed so far.

Potatoes have become extremely rare commodities, and governments around the world have banned their trade. Only the wealthiest people are able to get their hands on potatoes.

A slow civil war is brewing in India, where potatoes were a staple food. People are protesting in the streets over the shortage of potatoes.

The world is now a different place.

Countries are going to war over potatoes. All the rich and powerful nations want to control the remaining supply of potatoes in the world.

Year 2079

Aloo Arjun starts his bike; today he is making his first delivery of the precious potatoes. It has been 10 years since the potato crops turned poisonous, but the cold storages are not yet empty. Some companies are involved in the illicit trade of potatoes, and corruption still runs rampant in the government, allowing these companies to source potatoes from corrupt actors.

There is a strict ban on the potato trade; anyone found with potatoes in their possession is sent to jail for life, with no trial or due process.

Some people, who find the risk and reward acceptable, serve as potato delivery personnel. They usually carry 2-3 potatoes at a time and deliver them to the wealthiest clients.

Aloo Arjun is now one of them.

He has to ride 200 km to deliver potatoes to a winery owner in Nashik. Many people in the world are trying to get their hands on potatoes, and they are aware of the illegal trade propagated by some companies. All potatoes are embedded with location-tracing chips, and hackers are aware of this. Companies employ hackers to minimize the risk of exposure.

If a delivery person loses the potatoes, then if they aren't already dead, they and their family pay the price.

Aloo Arjun is anxious, but a huge fee is paid for every successful potato delivery. He has been given a shotgun and a handgun. The Splendor bike has been serviced and equipped with all kinds of electronic jammer technology.

The journey begins.
