Realising that your palms are soft
V
I am still deciding what should I write here.

Have you ever thought what if you never realise your potential? What if you were meant to become something better but you could never? What if you are surrounded by idiots and that makes you think you have potential? Lot of what ifs. But the thing is you might end up as a small cog in the big machine, or a cog which is kept on the shelf just for backup, and never used.

Not being pessimistic, wait, I am being pessimistic. But that's not the point. I am saying that you might have potential but you might never end up realising that you have potential. Most people don't know what they can do with themselves. So they end up retiring with a lot of money which doesn't fully fill the void in their hearts. The void if real can be filled via surgery, but I am talking about a metaphorical void.

How does one realise their potential? You do things. Do everything, try everything. Something will stick. If nothing sticks, then you keep trying until something does. Like I have soft palms, but I never tried to become a hand model. Hence the potential of my palms is wasted. Not fully though. Whenever someone who shakes my hand compliments me that my palms are too soft. They might also mean that I haven't worked a day in my life hence my palms are soft. Are they calling me a useless person? Maybe.

I knew a guy, who is not dead, he tried his hands at gambling, failed miserably, but I respect him because at least he tried. If you never try, you will never know. Yeah, he did got beat up by shady people and ended up in prison for some time, but he did something. You have to respect gamblers, they know that the house always wins, but they keep trying. What a bunch of fools, I mean what a bunch of optimistic people.

So how do you try everything? If you have a job, then there are multiple things that you can do, maybe try sales, marketing, customer service, see what might happen. Learn how things work, there might be a side to you that you never knew about. You might be v good at marketing, making ragebait ads and increasing sales of the company. You might be good at handling customers and their tantrums. You might be good at nothing, but at least now you know right? that you are good at nothing. You are partially enlightened.

You can quit your job and try making short form content, travel content? Or whatever you think would be good for you. If you go viral then balle balle, if not then you always can become a delivery partner and deliver food to hungry people. Or become a maid on any of the instant help platforms. There are many options. Maybe you are good doing maid things, so you become a popular maid and everyone starts paying you a lot of money to clean their house. You can also become an actor, the most useless profession of all. Yeah, I said that. Get over it. If all actors disappeared tomorrow, nothing in the world will change.

Don't get overpowered by your emotions, figuring out what you are good at is a long journey of failure and discovery. You might be good at nothing. So you can become a critic. Usually people who aren't good at anything end up criticising everything. That's fine. People can do whatever they think is a good use of their time.

When you reach your local maxima you have to try to get out of that rut so you can see what the world looks like. You have to let your pride go. It will be difficult but you will be far more happy, or maybe not. Maybe you quit your school because you are number 1 and then you go to another school where you are number 30, it will make you sad for sure, and you might end up hating yourself. Maybe it was better when you were number 1, being number 30 isn't helping your confidence. But who am I to say anything. You do you.

“If at first you don’t succeed, then skydiving definitely isn’t for you.”
— Steven Wright

Some people never recover when they find out someone else is better at "their thing" than them. I feel there is always someone better, so making a comparison will always be fruitless. But there are people who keep working hard and harder, and that's also fine. The world is very big. There is always someone better. Very motivational, I know.

Although, as long as you never try, your potential remains infinite in your head. You will always feel that you are special. But in reality you aren't. I think you want to preserve your fantasy world, and to some extent it is fine. Everybody likes risk in motivational videos. Real risk is much less cinematic.

Luck also plays a huge role, people will tell you if they were at the right place at the right time and it is true. Imagine, you lost your role as movie lead because you got food poisoning, now someone else got that part. The person was there, you were not. Luck.

You can always be at every place and all the time, but still never succeed. That's okay. You were never meant to. If everyone became successful and how do we even measure success? To be rich there must exists someone who is poor. Yin-Yang. Lucky Unlucky. Sexy Ugly. Fat Thin. Consumer Creator. Sad Happy. Big Dick Small Dick. Superman Not So Superman. Get the gist? Soft Skin Rough Skin. FOMO JOMO. Mojo Jojo Powerpuff girls. Okay, that's it.

You know, maybe one never fully realises their potential, they just stop trying when their knees start to hurt and their joints ache, maybe age is the only barricade. Death is the thing that interrupts the process. Maybe you get arthritis. I think there should be some miracle drug that lets people live happily until they die. But maybe happiness is a mindset. I dunno. Just keep trying till you can. I think that's a better ending for this blog. Also take breaks, you don't wanna burn out. Mental illnesses are real and creep up slowly. So take care of your health and be playful and don't take life that seriously.
