How I prevented a nuclear war in 2024

Just kidding, I didn’t.

This is a 2024 wrap up blog.

Touchwood - 2024 was a stable year for me, I was employed the whole year. My auto-immune condition is also kinda stable. My stress levels were fine. I changed jobs and the startup I used to work for shut down. Fortunately, I didn’t have any pending payment with them.

I have become a more pragmatic coder - I have overall understanding of the software development process and I can now articulate my views better. My agency levels have increased and I now try contribute to anything and everything that I think will add shareholder value. :))

I am also more lactose tolerant as I was in the starting of the year - all thanks to the mindset change where I concluded that lactose intolerance is a skill issue. (Please DYOR - Do not blame me if you die of lactose overdose)

I’m looking for someone to get married to, so let me know if you have any strong references. :’) (I haven’t expressed this thought to my mom yet, but I think it is the right time to start looking)

On the romance front, it has been a drought since like forever. No news there. This has effected how much effort I put into how I look because I don’t have to impress anyone. You will find me in t-shirt and shorts most of the time.

I have become a better driver, I have become more patient, but also stubborn. :P

My investments are also steadily increasing - not a lot of volatility there because I haven’t made any risky investments. FDs, Blue chip mutual funds, blue chip stocks and some IPOs. I want to start investing in the US share market, next year I’ll try to explore options on how I can do that. If you have any references then do let me know.

I did some reading also - Asimov’s books were a big part of the books I read. Currently reading Half Lion and DDIA (Part 3 remaining)

On the exercise front, I didn’t scale up and stuck to the 10 minute cycling everyday. This has lead to my tummy becoming a lil big. I am kinda skinny fat, but my height counters that and I don’t really look fat. But I need to include some more exercising time in my routine.

I drew a lot many pictures - all posted on my twitter account.

My software subscriptions have changed - youtube premium, amazon prime and X premium (I think this might have been a bad decision :’))

I ate a lotta burgers this year! A lot! I also tried millet noodles, didn’t like them much. I still maintain my belief that the healthy alternative to snacks are only slightly healthy than what you currently eat - so in the longer run it might not matter much. Just 1-2 days in your total lifespan, ehehe. Eating healthy is expensive. So take that into account before you change your priorities.

My mental health has improved, I have gotten pretty good at regulating my emotions and making sense of my behaviours. I still take the flight response when it comes to family kalesh - I don’t get involved.

I watched a lot of new tv series and movies this year, duh, I cannot say that anything stood out or maybe something did but I forgot. eh. I liked The Recruit on Netflix. It was good. I listened to a lot of new songs this year. A lot of Japanese music. A lot of Telugu, Tamil music (mostly movie related). I have made my yt music recap playlist public so well there’s that.

What else…let me think. I voted in the Lok Sabha as well as Vidhan Sabha elections this year. Bought a toy katana, which has been in the box since it arrived because I just play with toys once and then forget about them. Yes, mom you told me so. I get it.

The temple cows identify me from a distance now, and start running towards me. I feel validated. I have made many friends on twitter and they are are cool. I vibe with them. I haven’t met any of them in real life, but if I did I know we’d be good IRL friends.

All in all it was an okayish year, no complains. It could have been better, but I am thankful nonetheless.
